BBAW Giveaway #1








I am celebrating BBAW with 5 giveaways this week, one each day, 4 books by Australian authors, and one related to Agatha Christie.

The competition is open world-wide, the only proviso being that if the winner comes from outside Australia postage cost will determine whether the book is delivered by surface mail or air mail.

    Kerrie - Thank you very much for hosting this giveaway :-). I'd love to win this book, too. My contribution? Joan Lindsay studied painting and was an artist before turning to writing.

    great contest ive wanted to read this since I saw the film and thats my fact:
    The book was made into a movie in 1975 directed by Peter Weir

    Lindsay also wrote some plays but they were never published.

    THE SECRET OF HANGING ROCK was the final chapter that should have been in the original book by Joan Lindsay published in 1967.

    I have been wanting to read this since I saw the movie on TV and found out it was based on a book. Thanks for the chance!

    Thank you for offering this book in a giveaway, it's a great choice!

    Joan (Weigall) Lindsay studied painting at the National Gallery School in Melbourne and exhibited her watercolors and oils in two exhibitions in Melbourne when she was in her mid-20's. She married a painter, Dale Lindsay, in 1922 who had moderate success with his works. He was from a family os painters and writers.

    Thanks for the giveaway. Joan Lindsey was the third daughter born to her parents, her father was a prominent judge in Australia.

    I loved this movie and didn't even know it was a book until I saw a blog review recently, but now I'm eager to read it!

    The book as originally published had a ambiguous ending, and in 1980 a book of hypothetical solutions called The Murders at Hanging Rock was published.

    When Joan & her husband returned to Australia they renovated a farmhouse in Baxter, Mulberry and lived there until the Great Depression.

    Joan Lindsay based the school in the book, Appleyard College, on her own school, Clyde Girls Grammar School.
