Think about your best Crime Fiction reads in 2010

In the middle of the year I collected a list of best crime fiction reads for 2010 from readers of this blog.

Now I want to put together a definitive list for the year.
The rules are simple - you just have to have read the books in 2010, regardless of when they were published.

You can give me a list of up to 10 or so, in a comment to this post. (I'm not fussed about there being more than 10, I'm going to have problems shortening my list too)

I need title and author.

If you are listing best reads for the year on your blog, by all means leave the URL of your blog post too (as well as a summary list in the comment).

I will write a summary post of those early in the new year - Let's make 4 January the deadline for getting your comments in.
Feel free to use the image to the right in your blog post and to link it back to this one.

  15. Here in the States we still have a few hours left in 2010, but I realized this morning that even if the book I'm currently reading turns out to be one of the best of the year, I'm not going to finish it until 2011--so here's my list:

Don Chaon - AWAIT YOUR REPLY: I finished this book on January 2, 2010, and at the time I thought that I'd be surprised if I read a better book the rest of the year--and I was right. The rest of this list is not really in any order, but AWAIT YOUR REPLY was the best book I read in all of 2010.

Jim Kelly - DEATH WORE WHITE

Dorothy B. Hughes - IN A LONELY PLACE

    Kate Atkinson* - CASE HISTORIES

Susan Hill* - THE VOWS OF SILENCE

    Tana French* - THE LIKENESS

Judy Blundell - WHAT I SAW AND HOW I LIED: Very well-written YA novel about a teenage girl's coming-of-age in post-WWII America, including her part in a murder-mystery.

    Ruth Rendell - THE BRIDESMAID

Elizabeth George - CARELESS IN RED

    Elizabeth Hand - GENERATION LOSS

*When it comes to books by Atkinson, Hill, and French, I could easily have chosen any (or all) of the books in their respective series--but for each of them I chose the book of the series that I liked the best.

Finally, I changed jobs in August and, sadly, do not now have as much time to read as I did before. I notice that almost all of the books on my list are ones that I listed back in June as my favorites for the year so far. I don't think I read 100 books this year, which is unusual for me--but, hey, at least I'm employed, and for that I'm very grateful!

    Happy New Year to everyone!
