45th Book Blog Carnival

As you would expect from a Book Blog Carnival hosted on my site, while there are other genres represented, there is also a heavy crime fiction bias in this edition.

Welcome to the June 6, 2010 edition of book review blog carnival.
We have 19 contributions this time.
The next Carnival is due to appear on 20 June 2010 Nishita's Rants and Raves

Jim Murdoch presents Our Tragic Universe by Scarlett Thomas posted at The Truth About Lies, saying, "If Kelsey Newman's theory about the end of time is true, we are all going to live forever. But for Meg - locked in a dead-end relationship and with a deadline long-gone for a book that she can't write - this thought fills her with dread. Meg is lost in a labyrinth of her own devising. But could there be an important connection between a wild beast living on Dartmoor, a ship in a bottle, the science of time, a knitting pattern for the shape of the universe and the Cottingley Fairies? Or is her life just one long chain of coincidences?"

Denise presents WIN Emily Giffin’s NEW “Heart of the Matter” « Welcome To My Melting Pot… posted at My Melting Pot... The Conversations That Happen In My Head, saying, "This is not only a review of Emily Giffin and her books but also a contest to win her new book. Jim Murdoch presents Timoleon Vieta Come Home by Dan Rhodes posted at The Truth About Lies, saying, "What happens when you take Lassie Come Home, a disgraced gay bandleader, a laconic ‘Bosnian’, the leaning tower of Pisa, and a stray going by the unlikely name of Timoleon Vieta and leave them in the capable hands of Dan Rhodes? You end up with a most unusual take on the shaggy-dog story. Clever, funny and tragic in equal measures – part-novel, part-short story collection. A definite summer read."

Dani in NC presents "A Woman's Place" by Lynn Austin posted at Average Girl Reads, "As America rises to meet the challenge of World War II, the call for defense workers unites four women at Seneca Shipyards in Michigan. As their lives intersect, this unlikely gathering of women will encourage, shape, and influence one another as they learn valuable lessons about themselves and about life, love, and faith."

On the face of it there can be no defence that will save Jeremy Estrada from 25 years in gaol, but if anyone can do it Jaywalker can. Right until the end we don't know how the jury will decide."
