BBAW Giveaway #4

I am celebrating BBAW with 5 giveaways this week, one each day, 4 books by Australian authors, and one related to Agatha Christie.

Today's giveaway is BABEL by Barry Maitland

Publisher's Blurb

BABEL is set in the south east of London, around an ex polytechnic, now the University of East London, in Docklands. The brutal murder of the university's professor of philosophy is headline news and DCI Brock is brought in to investigate. The university campus is home to many students drawn from the large and varied ethnic communities of south east London. When it becomes clear that the motive for murder may be political and the murderer a Muslim, the public is outraged. Following her terrifying experiences in SILVERMEADOW, DC Kathy Kolla is on leave, so burned out that she's considering leaving the force for good. But you can't keep a good detective down and soon she's on the phone to Brock asking to be put on the case ... The construction of this detailed, intricate plot is a joy - as ingenious as Colin Dexter. It's a complex, rich and intelligent novel and will surely bring Brock and Kolla to a wider, appreciative readership.

To go into the draw for this book, you need to leave a comment and tell me something important about Barry Maitland. Your information should not repeat anything from this blog post, or from comments left prior to yours.

The competition is open world-wide, the only proviso being that if the winner comes from outside Australia postage cost will determine whether the book is delivered by surface mail or air mail.

The competition for all my BBAW giveaways will close on Friday 24 September, and the winners for all the BBAW giveaways will be announced on this blog on Saturday 25 September.

Do I get a prize for pointing out that the publisher's blurb has nothing to do with the book but is in fact the blurb from a book you featured earlier this week?

Ah quick cut and paste!!

I think you'd like us to provide some information about Barry Maitland: well, he grew up in London but originally came from Scotland.

Thanks for the giveaways! You've got some really good books going.

Oh! how embarrassing - I'll certainly count oyur more than once in the draw - lets say as numbers 1 to 5 :-)
Thanks for taking the time to point it out - I've fixed it all now. Better check tomorrow's and make sure I have the right blurb eh!

Please add my name for the book give-away.

Thanks so much. Books to the Ceiling had a review of "Babel" by Barry Maitland and it drew me in right away.
