![]() | These lovely sculptures are all in bronze. If you go to the websites where they are displayed you can scrutinise them in much greater detail. See the one on the left here and the "bookworm" on the right here. And wouldn't you love to own these book ends? Click on the image to see a larger version. | ![]() |
Why MYSTERIES? Because that is the genre I read.
Why PARADISE? Because that is where I live.
Among other things, this blog, the result of a 2008 New Year's resolution,
will act as a record of books that I've read, and random thoughts.

How true - when books take over
Thanks to Tutu for pointing this one out in her Sunday Salon post
Penguin Books in Malaysia recently commissioned a print advertising campaign emphasizing the 'unputdownable' nature of classic literature. The hands of readers are transformed into classic novels, “The Railway Children” by Edith Nesbit, John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row, and “Hound of the Baskervilles” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This one shows the latter. Eye Candy - Book Sculpture
Another one of these "look at how we can massacre books" thingies.
I'm using the tag "book sculpture" now so you can check some of them out now. [my only hesitation is that by using the tag sculpture it looks perhaps as if I think it's art]
These things are apparently called Cosmopolitans and are composed entirely of donated chick lit novels.

Book Art & Book Scupltures
I couldn't resist this - I saw it somewhere else a week or two ago.
Today I found it on the Auntie blog.
The post is called Eye Candy - The Librarian

From deviantart user amartinsdebarros, found via sleepydumpling's tumblr.
Another reader of the blog said it reminded her of the Arcimboldo painting "The Librarian" (ca 1570)
Aren't they great?
There are some terrific images around - do a search on Google Images for "made from books" or "book art" and a different world opens up. Click on the images below to find out where they came from.
