Synopsis  Amazon

Handwriting doesn’t lie. But people do.

Forensic handwriting expert Claudia Rose takes on two new cases: a forged signature in a troubling auto theft investigation, and a young woman desperate for help after her uncle receives a series of anonymous, threatening notes.
As Claudia examines the handwriting behind each case, troubling undercurrents begin to surface. Details don’t add up. Stories shift. Emotional pressure bleeds through the ink in ways the writers never intended.
Then a sudden tragedy strikes close to home, and Claudia’s work turns darker and far more personal. Someone is hiding behind half-truths and false leads, and the only clues she can trust are the ones written on the page.
And even those carry lies between the lines.

My Take

I have never read a novel where the protagonist is a handwriting expert and I was firstly interested to find out what the plot would be and then how she fitted into it. I found Claudia Rose a very credible character and the plot lines very engaging. I think Australian readers might ask themselves whether this scenario would be possible in Australia, but nevertheless there is certainly enough to keep them reading.

By absolute coincidence I am reviewing this novel on the day after it has been published. Perhaps not such a coincidence because the author sent me a copy of it just a few weeks ago.

My rating: 4.5
