Blogoversary giveway - the winner is..

A week ago I announced  that

To celebrate my blogoversary I have decided to pass on a copy of  TAKE OUT by Australian author Felicity Young.
I received this as a review copy from the publishers Fremantle Press, so it has been leafed through by me, but I am a gentle reader!

I reviewed it in March last year and gave it a rating of 4.6.

I will send the book anywhere in the world, so, if you are interested in reading Australian crime fiction, enter by leaving a comment that gives me some information so I can contact you if you are the winner.

You have until Saturday 8 January to enter!

Many thanks to everyone who entered
I worked out there were 10 entrants and so I used Random.org which told me the winning number was number 5, which is Vanda!

Thank you for your interest and key your eye out for my next giveway.

And the Winner Is...

The winner of my book giveaway of  THREE SECONDS by Roslund & Hellstrom is kathyd!
Many thanks to all who entered by leaving a comment on the original post
I used the integer generator at random.org to generate a number randomly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
due to be released in the US on 4 January 2011.
The promoters at Wiredset will take care of posting the winner his/her copy, anywhere in the world.
Marketing blurb
Three Seconds [SilverOak, January 4, 2011] , Anders Roslund and Borge Hellström's realistic and edgy new novel, has sold over 1.5 million copies in Sweden, spent 13 months on the bestsellers list in the authors' native country, and won the prestigious Swedish Academy of Crime Writers' Award.  Roslund, an acclaimed investigative journalist, and Hellström, an ex-criminal who spent years working to rehabilitate criminals, combine inside knowledge of the brutal reality of criminal life with searing social criticism that puts them at the forefront of modern Scandinavian crime writing.
In Three Seconds they use their backgrounds and considerable research skills to create a dark and action-packed novel about the drug trade within the Swedish prison system and the corruption among police and politicians that keeps it going.
Ex-con Piet Hoffman, the Swedish police force’s most valuable informant, is on a deadly mission.  He has infiltrated the Polish mafia in an attempt to take control of illegal narcotics distribution and must go back inside Sweden’s most infamous maximum-security prison.  Success will mean freedom and the chance to start a new life with his beloved wife and two young sons.  Failure will mean certain death.  His survival depends on one man.
Detective Inspector EwertGrens, a complex and haunted man, is charged with investigating a drug-related killing involving Hoffman.  Unaware of Hoffmann’s real identity, he believes he’s on the trail of a dangerous psychopath.  As Grens’s investigation takes him closer to the truth, government lies are exposed and Hoffman is trapped in prison, wanted dead by both the police and mafia.
Three Seconds captures a nefarious world of betrayal and violence, where a wise man trusts no one and even the most valuable agent can be “burned”.  Intelligent, gritty, and suspenseful, it firmly establishes Roslund & Hellström as the heirs apparent to Stieg Larsson and Henning Mankell and is poised to be the crime novel of the winter season.
Alisha Barba's dreams of being a detective were shattered when a murder suspect broke her back across a brick wall. Now on her feet again, with her police career in limbo, she receives a message from an old school friend, Cate Beaumont, who is eight months pregnant and in trouble. On the night they arrange to meet, Cate is mown down by a car that kills her husband instantly. As paramedics fight to save her life they discover there is no baby. Her pregnancy is an elaborate lie, a cruel deception. Why? What happened? As Alisha sets out to answer these questions she is drawn deeper and deeper into a dangerous quest that will take her from the East End of London to Amsterdam's red light district and into a murky underworld of sex trafficking, slavery and exploitation. A gripping thriller, with twists at every turn
BBAW Giveaway #4
I am celebrating BBAW with 5 giveaways this week, one each day, 4 books by Australian authors, and one related to Agatha Christie.
Today's giveaway is BABEL by Barry Maitland
Publisher's Blurb
BABEL is set in the south east of London, around an ex polytechnic, now the University of East London, in Docklands. The brutal murder of the university's professor of philosophy is headline news and DCI Brock is brought in to investigate. The university campus is home to many students drawn from the large and varied ethnic communities of south east London. When it becomes clear that the motive for murder may be political and the murderer a Muslim, the public is outraged. Following her terrifying experiences in SILVERMEADOW, DC Kathy Kolla is on leave, so burned out that she's considering leaving the force for good. But you can't keep a good detective down and soon she's on the phone to Brock asking to be put on the case ... The construction of this detailed, intricate plot is a joy - as ingenious as Colin Dexter. It's a complex, rich and intelligent novel and will surely bring Brock and Kolla to a wider, appreciative readership.
To go into the draw for this book, you need to leave a comment and tell me something important about Barry Maitland. Your information should not repeat anything from this blog post, or from comments left prior to yours.
BBAW Giveaway #3
Today's giveaway is AGATHA CHRISTIE by Laura Thompson.
I have chosen this book because today is the 120th Anniversary of Agatha Christie's birth.
We have been celebrating this since the beginning of the month with the Agatha Christie Reading Challenge Blog Tour. and the celebrations will continue until 30th September.
Publisher's Blurb
A passionate and accomplished writer, Laura Thompson now turns her highly acclaimed biographical skills to Agatha Christie.
Arguably the greatest crime writer in the world, thirty years after her death Christie's books still sell over four million copies worldwide a year.
Thompson describes the Edwardian world in which she grew up, explores the relationships she had, including those with her two husbands and daughter, and investigates the mysteries still surrounding Christie's life - including her disappearance in 1926.
Agatha Christie is a mystery and writing about her is a detection job in itself.
But, with access to all of Christie's letters, papers and writing notebooks, as well as interviews with her grandson, daughter, son-in-law and their living relations, Thompson is able to unravel not only the detailed workings of Christies detective fiction, but the truth behind her private life as well.
