Books at the mercy of nature

Early on Saturday morning, as you probably already know, Christchurch in New Zealand had an earthquake that measured 7.1 on the Richter scale. Here is a scene from the University of Canterbury library.

The slideshow from which the photo was captured.

Crimewatch blogger Craig Sisterson has blogged about the possible impact on the Christchurch Writers' Festival scheduled to happen this weekend.

Postscript:  CrimeWatch has relayed that the Christchurch Writers' Festival has been cancelled - the city is suffering from aftershocks and more are expected; power, water and sewerage still to be restored.

Kerrie - That's quite a dramatic picture! So, so sad about the earthquake. I'm very glad, though, that there seems to have been minimal human loss (as if any human casualty or loss is really "minimal.") Thanks for sharing this.
