THE CRIME OF MY LIFE: Favorite Stories by Presidents of the Mystery Writers of America (1984) was an anthology.
However their records of their anthologies only go back to 2000, so I haven't been successful in finding a copy of the cover for THE CRIME OF MY LIFE.
I have however tracked the anthology's editor, Brian Garfield, down.
In 1976 he won the Edgar for Best Novel with HOPSCOTCH.
According to his website, there are 19 films, including HOPSCOTCH, based on his works.
His pseudonyms are John Ives, Drew Mallory, Frank O'Brian.
He has written quite a range of genres: thrillers, Westerns, crime fiction, and even some historical fiction. His first published book was written when he was 18. He is publishing another thriller this year.

I liked all of Brian Garfield's novels. And, he edited some wonderful short story collections, too. The only effort that missed for me was his collaboration with Donald E. Westlake, GANGWAY.
Garfield's westerns (and there are a lot of them) are great too!
